CIPR
Written by RAZMAN BIN ABDULLAH
Conference Room, HCM HQ. On Wednesday: March 31, 2010, En. Mohamed Napi Yunus conducted a K Sharing Session on CIPR. By way of introduction, En. Napi works for Malaysian Recycling Company abbreviated as MARECO within the HCM Group of Companies. He has tremendous amount of experience in Road Design, Engineering and Construction, as such CIPR is very much his area of expertise. He is also the Knowledge Advsior for the Community of Recycling Technology (CORT) Community of Practice (COP) who was gracious enough the spend time with us to impart knowledge.
CIPR is one of the many solutions which our company employs in road repair works. It is an environmentally friendly and cost effective alternative to partial or total reconstruction of cracked pavements. Historically, the first CIPR job that was undertaken in our country was a road length of 8km between Temerloh and Mentakab, Pahang of which it was a joint venture effort between both University Malaya and Jabatan Kerja Raya.
CIPR is a good solution in treating major distress roads such as severe crocodile cracks, rutting or deformation, and pumping. The advantages to CIPR are the following:• Faster and more efficient as minimal excavation and dump trucks required
• Reuse of existing materials, and reduces new construction materials and transport cost
• The technique can give equivalent pavement structure condition and cost saving compared to conventional method
• Increases the shear strength and reduces the moisture susceptibility of granular materials
• Flexible and fatigue resistant (Foamed Bitumen and Emulsion)
• Cost Savings with approximately 10% – 30 %Some of the ingredients which makes up a typical CIPR solution would require Premix, Foam, Cement, and Crusher Run Furthermore a typical costing of any CIPR project works in the areas of Machinery, Manpower, and Material would entail the following :
Machinery :
Recycling Machine, Water Tanker, Vib Roller, 3 Tonne Lorry, Van / 1 Tonne Lorry, Back Hoe, Back Pusher/Power Broom, Paver Seat, T.Coat and P.Coat Spray, and Motorgrader.
Manpower :
Project Manager, Site Engineer, Site Supervisor, Scissorman, General Workers (Premix), General Worker (Cement) and Accommodation (Traffic)Material/Other Cost :
Cement, Premix ACBC, ACWC, Diesel, Prim Coat, Tack Coat and ToolsThis K Sharing Session was attended by HCME, Roadcare, and KPS HCM business units which cuts across departments such as MARECO, QA Contracts, MIS, SFU, and Engineering. It was indeed a remarkable session in which knowledge transfer was accelerated between several business units in a single room, in a mater of 2 hours.
We hope that this type of K Sharing Session amongst the many K Solutions which the other 17 Community of Practice (COP) have committed in their 2010 Calendar Plan will enable HCM Group of Companies to reach the Knowledge Based Organisation in 2011 (KBO 2011) target as envisaged by our MD/CKO , YBhg Dato’Ir Hasnur Rabian Ismail.
